i knew there would be a lot of decisions to make but i guess i didn't realize how stressful it would be...
what kind of carpet, what color
what kind of carpet and color for the stairs
what kind of hardwood floors, what color stain
what kind of cabinets, what stain
what color of granite on the counters and what color on the island
what kind of door knobs and drawer pulls
what kind of appliances and what color
what color of tile back splash, what pattern
what color of paint for the walls, the trim and the ceilings
what kind of lighting, what color of metal
what style of faucets and what color
what style of doors, what kind of handles
what color of granite in the bathroom
what color of vanities
what color of windows, do we want shades installed -what color
what colors for the exterior of the house -base, trim, gutters
what color of shingles
what kind of landscaping -plants, trees, layout
this list could seriously keep going, i'm just tired of listing everything.
i pretty well made most of the choices...
here is the method to my madness:
i started with the carpet. i definitely wanted something a little darker than what was in the model. we have two lovely furbabes and even though we wipe their feetsies when they come in -they, just as well as us i'm sure have some dirt on them.
carpet- a darker beige (very soft) CHECK
the stair carpet- i liked the patterned style that was in the model and it complimented the darker carpet i picked nicely CHECK
paint- after i changed the carpet, the paint colors in the model didn't quite work (it looked two yellow toned for my liking and i wanted something more in the beige range)
these are the colors i chose
trim: sherwin williams antique white

walls: sherwin williams latte

ceiling: sherwin williams whitetail

the antique white swatch on the computer looks a little more brown than antique white to me but it came off of the sherwin williams site -so i don't know what's up with that.
interior paint colors - CHECK
anyways...
all of the door knobs/pulls, lighting fixtures and faucets etc are going to be oil rubbed bronze. CHECK
the appliances will be the GE Profile line in stainless steel - CHECK
i'm going with two different granites in the kitchen the perimeter counter is a black granite with brown undertones and the island will be a cream colored granite with dark accents. CHECK
What are your thoughts on two different granites in the kitchen???
They had it this way in the model but they were both dark granites and to me it almost gave me the feeling that they just ran out of one and had to use a different granite instead of the "pop" it's supposed to be different -statement. I liked the more dramatic difference but would like other opinions.
i went with a lighter hard wood (again our furbabes have nails that will scratch the floor -so the lighter the better). i went a tad darker on the stain for the cabinets.
stain - CHECK
our designer is going to do a design board for us once we have made all of our choices and i will share it with you once i have it.
i also have pictures of all my choices that i will try to post at some point this week.

gosh.....SO many decisions...but SO exciting :)
Girl I am so excited for you!!! When do I move in? :)
I like the idea of two different colored counter tops. I think it will give the kitchen lots of character!!!
XOXO
How exciting! I remember when we finished our basement there was a laundry list of questions. The one that I never dreamed of was which way I wanted them to hang the doors! Seriously?!
I love all of your choices and they seem well thought out. I also like the idea of 2 different countertops to sort of break the monotony. Can't wait to see the finished product!
